A rubber cutter is a tool used for preparing specimens prior to tensile testing of rubber or plastic materials. Based on the shape of the cut, it can be categorized into dumbbell‑shaped, tear‑shaped, star‑and‑moon‑shaped, and other types. According to the dimensions specified in national standards, common sizes include 6×115 mm, 4×75 mm, 10×120 mm, and 10×150 mm (see the table below for detailed specifications). Given the diversity of materials to be tested and their varying requirements, the applicable standards also differ. The foam compression set tester consists of parallel steel plates, a restrictor, and fasteners, and complies with the requirements of GB/T 6669-2008 and ISO 1856:2000, “Determination of Compression Set of Flexible Cellular Plastics.” At a specified temperature, the foam specimen is maintained under a constant deformation for a defined period. After the specimen has recovered for a certain time, the effect of the deformation on the test thickness is observed. The compression set of the material is expressed as the percentage ratio of the difference between the initial and final thicknesses to the initial thickness.
